The End of Twilight

Since the release of the second trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 2, I’ve been having a hard time coming to grips with the notion that the Twilight era is coming to an end. Laugh at me all you want, but like millions of mature women around the world, I’m a huge fan of this dark, romantic series – an addict, in fact. I’ve lingered like a lust-filled Shakespearean character for each new taste of Twilight. From the moment the first book hit store shelves in 2005, there has always been some vampirish, Forks-induced, Bella-inspired event on the horizon – something to fuel the fantasy just a little bit longer. But soon, this mystical era will see its final days.

The sense of loss is setting in early for me. There will be a huge gap, a hole that I don’t think any other book or movie series will ever be able to fill. In my lifetime, there was Twilight. I’m not embarrassed to say those words. For some, there was Harry Potter. For others, Lord of the Rings filled this fantastical need. Twilight was my other-worldly indulgence. And I don’t want to let it go. I want Stephenie Meyer to go back and rework the series – adding more words, more books. I want Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to mimic the eternal youth of Edward and Bella so that the movies can live on. I want there to be more.

There have been rumors circulating that Stephenie Meyer might be inclined to write another book and that a movie adaptation will follow. Could we be so lucky? I could handle a spinoff focused solely on Renesmee – even if I had to let go of her parents. What I would ask, is that Jabob remain a quintessential element in the storyline. He’s the link that would keep it all together.

Listen to me. Hoping. Wishing. Reminiscing. All over this little thing called Twilight. For those of you like me, who just do not want to let go, here is a look at the second trailer for Breaking Dawn 2…Enjoy!
