Welcome to MommiFried SITStas (and others)!

Last month I was surprised and ecstatic to receive a note from the awesome ladies at The SITS Girls (SITS) announcing that I would be a Featured Blogger during the month of February. Woo hoo! Although I’ve been blogging since blogging was first defined, I launched MommiFried less than a year ago. So I’m truly honored and excited to welcome you all here today. My journey has only just begun and I hope you come along.

For those of you not visiting from SITS, let’s bring you up to speed. SITS is a community of over 40,000 women strong who connect to support each other online and learn about the latest in social media and technology. Every female blogger can benefit from joining. It doesn’t matter if you’re a green horn novice or the most experienced blogger on the planet. You will discover something new in The SITS Girls community! I’ve made countless friends through their platform and even had one of my posts featured on their homepage. If you blog, I strongly encourage you to check it out and consider joining.

Now that we’ve covered that, let me tell you a little about my blog. MommiFried is a mashup of lifestyle, parenting, work-from-home and humor posts all infused around my unique personality and daily travels. I often share funny family moments, crock pot favorites and random thoughts related to my self-diagnosed Motherhood Unintentional Distraction Disorder or MUDD. On a personal note, I’m close to hitting 40, the mother of four wonderful kids (22, 19, 13 and 1), a grandma to one beautiful granddaughter and married to a hot Italian stud 15 years my junior. I work as the Senior Community Manager for one of the top sites in the world. In my spare time, I’ve been polishing a novel I started 5 years ago. Hopefully we’ll see her published one day soon. About that spare time…

Screen Shot 2013-02-21 at 9.07.44 AMThis past month, I kicked off a new initiative called OCD Moms. This section is designed as a resource, help center and source of inspiration for all moms currently dealing with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). I’ve been battling OCD for more than half of my adult life (maybe longer) and found that parenting with OCD is complicated and challenging. Through many struggles and a lot of trial and error, I have scored some victories and feel that I am in a place where I can offer some insight and help to other moms (and dads, grandmas, sisters, uncles…). Please check it out and if you have something that you’d like to see added or if you are willing to share your personal story with others, I’d love to feature you.

Screen Shot 2013-02-25 at 11.47.03 AMAnother initiative that I currently have in the works is Project MommiSmiles. This is in the early stages, but through Project MommiSmiles I hope to make the reality of a baby shower (and preparedness) a dream come true for some first-time moms. So many moms, especially young moms or those going it alone, go into labor unprepared. It might because they are having it difficult financially or it could also be that the people in their lives did not take time to do a shower for them. I’d like to send care packages to expectant first-time moms – like a baby shower in a box. Every mom deserves to experience this joy, this pregnancy rite of passage. And it could be a big help for them, too. I’m currently looking for verbal commitments on donations  - handgoods or anything else you might be willing to give. Or if you’d like to help spread the word when the program is ready to launch, please give me a shout.

And as a special thank you for visiting, one lucky SITS gal will win this awesome t-shirt from the MommiFried Mall!

How awesome are you!?!?! Love your initiative. I too suffer from OCD. And a lot of other letters too, like PTSD, GAD, SAD, BP1, etc, and I’ve been learning to live with it most of my life. A part of my life, I just let it all take over, but we won’t go there. :-) I think being featured blogger for SITS is awesome and I hope you have a blessed day!
